The journal "Music Scholarship / Problemy Muzykal'noj Nauki" ISSN 1997-0854, DOI: 10.17674/1997-0854 is a Russian academic publication included in the list of peer-reviewed journals reviewed by the Highest Certification Commission (VAK) [Vysshaya attestatsionnaya komissiya] as research specialty 17.00.00. "Art Studies" (17.00.02 – "Musical Art”). The editor in chief of the journal, Liudmila N. Shaimukhametova is an academician, an active member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Dr. Sci. (Arts), Professor, a Merited Activist of the Arts of the Russian Federation and of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

The journal is geared on publishing articles by some of the leading specialists in the field of music theory and history, ethnomusicology and musical pedagogy, as well as for graduate students and aspirants for academic degrees. The journal cooperates with authors from many different countries and is distributed in university libraries in the USA and Europe.
